  • Blown into The Isle of Lewis

I arrived with a bump and a swerve on the last flight into Stornoway ahead of Storm Amy. Thrilled to have arrived before flights were cancelled I hunkered down at my lovely cosy Airbnb in Tarbert . The winds roared and moaned all night marking our place in the western edge of Scotland and bracing for the next few days . Island life . Unique , extreme , gorgeous .
The waves do not care ; in perpetual movement ; the storm passes by

  • water lilies

on a quiet morning , we walked through the woods to a lily lake . It was so quiet with just the water boat men rippling the surface . As we turned a corner and made our way through a clearing in the trees , a host of lilies appeared in front of us . So peaceful .

  • Floral Moments

    the joy of flowers

the summer means a profusion of colour and scent , it’s quite the miracle I always think to pause and take in the pure symmetry and beauty of wild and garden flowers .
I’ve always loved them – growing up with parents who spent every spare moment in the garden , nurturing seeds and cuttings. But rather than run a garden I just love to spend time in formal and communal gardens – spemd time walking along the river bank and loving every dandelion head and yellow daisy . Joy.

late spring is simply bubbling with colour and warmth this year . So many blooms in full flower jostling against their neighbours for pride of place . It’s just beautiful .

  • warmth of friends

I’ve been to two funerals in the last few weeks . Friends who lived every moment of their all too short lives. Lives lived with true quality even though not the quantity of time they and their families so craved .
these friends were courteous kind positive . Only thinking about the hardships their suffering and loss would mean for this around them. In fact it was true love in motion and we should all try to live every day as they lived . Good for thought and a lesson to treasure everyone we love . Farewell my friends . I will be here for your families x

  • Making a wish

It’s so easy to make a wish . A blow of a beautiful dandelion head and a hundred intentions are scattered to the sky. Each spiralling on the breeze to fulfil a dream. I love to see them at this time of year ; their delicate appearance full of hope.. I had a friend like this . Always so full of hope – lifting everyone around him and lighting the day with his laughter and stories . 🤍. You will be so sorely missed .

  • Hurt

hurt is a strange word . So short and innocuous but burrowing deep into body and soul. If you can’t change it change your attitude if you can change it do. All the solutions , knowing what to do doesn’t change the reality you have to accept . And that’s so so hard . Seeing Hurt etched on faces and expressed privately through sorrow is a privilege that I can hear and hold
